I finally download inskape 4.7 today

I finally was able to download the newest version of inkscape today. I have tried to download it several times before but, the download would always start to slow up and then stop before the installer was finished downloading. Even today the download stopped the first time. So I thought maybe I will switch to a different browser to download inkscape and yep that worked. Hooray.

Now I need to get learning inkscape otherwise installing it will have been a waste of time. Get learning, Silly.

How exciting

More excitement yesterday. I read a little bit of blender3D: noob to pro and also read so of the gimp documentation on gimp.org. I know someday I will make something instead of just reading tutorials and documentation.

Something to write about today

Something mildly interesting to write today. I wanted to take a screen shot so I opened up the gimp and noticed that there was no menu at the top of the tool box. I thought, great now I can't take a screen shot; which was not a big deal. Then I panicked. I though why is there no menu did I install it wrong, maybe gimp does not work on vista. I just know I messed something up.

So I went to the gimp website and to my relief there was nothing wrong with my instillation of gimp. The two menu items(File and xlns) are not at the top of the tool box anymore on gimp 2.6. I don't know where they went to but, they are where the were. I did not mess up, Yay.

Photo editing software is just like programming to me; I have wanted to master both but, have not even come close. You know instead of trying to learn photo editing and programming myself I could pay someone to learn how to do that stuff. Then after they became good I would force them to use my name and everyone would think I was an uber-computer geek.

I want to make cars using blender

Yesterday while browsing through car blueprints at the-blueprints.com I thought to myself I want to make cars using blender so why not make one car of each make on the website. I will start with the letter z. I am not sure if I will accomplish that or how long it will take me to make that many cars but, why not give it a try. I definitely need more practice working with blender and if I make cars I am sure I will use blender more.

Look at my wonderful creation

Today I read about boolean tools in the blender user manual and decided to make something using the difference boolean tool. I kept the default cube and and then added a UV sphere to the scene. After that I positioned the cube and sphere where I wanted them, then made the cube larger. Then I pressed w to bring up the boolean menu and selected difference then added some color, eyes, and text to finish the scene.

My horrible hand rail 3d model

Today I tired to make a hand rail, but it did not turn out to good. I used the pipe tutorial from blender noob to pro to make the curved part of the hand rail.

I scaled the model to the size I wanted then duplicated and mirrored it to create the other half of the hand rail. And for a finishing touch I added a wall with grass on it.

Another exciting blender model

Today I made another type of pipe from the blender 3d noob to pro pipe tutorial. I also added grass and a cube covered with grass to my wonderful scene.

I cant believe I made this pipe joint

This is another pipe joint from the blender noob to pro pipe joints tutorial. The first time I tried to make this pipe joint I could not figure out which vertices to select.

Then I quit using blender so I could enter instant win sweepstakes. After I got done entering the instant win sweepstakes I went back to the tutorial and figured out which vertices to select.

After selecting the correct vertices I was able to create the pipe joint. Yay for me, I did it. Also I added some grass because what render would be complete with out grass.

Here is my 3d car model

I got most of the car modeling tutorial that I found at CGTutorials done so I'll say my car is finished. The model still needs a lot more work, but I want to model something else.

When I started modeling the car I thought oh, it won't take that long to model maybe a day or two. I was wrong, it took me probably about ten, maybe twenty hours to model what you see in the picture. It was a fun ten plus hours though.

I finished more of the car 3d model

I am still doing the car tutorial I got from CGTutorials. Today I made the back window and some of the side of the car model. I also tweaked the hood of the car to make the hood scoop.

I made the piece under the car door today

Today I made the bottom piece that goes under the door of the car, follow the white arrow. I started out today wanting to make the side of the car from the front quarter panel all the way to the back of the car, minus the door which I made yesterday, I accomplished my mission but ended up deleting the whole piece because I could not get it shaped right. Then I made the piece under the door.

I made the doors, side windows and roof of my car today

I am still doing the car tutorial I got from CGTutorials.

I spent about two hours today making the doors, roof and side windows for my car model. I am happy that they turned out smooth compared to the front part of the car. I think I am improving, but it could be that the parts I made today are easier to make.

More 3d car model talk

Today I finished modeling more of the front of the car. The modeling I did today looks smoother although it's still pretty bumpy. I hop I can figure out how to make the parts turn out smooth. I got the car tutorial from CGTutorials.

Also today I uploaded a page to my website. I read some beginning articles about xhtml, css, on javascript so I decided to create a web page and post it to my website.

I have the front part of my car model finished

I'm still doing the car model tutorial I got from CGTutorials.

I have the front part of my car model finished. It looks terrible but, it does look like the front of a car. I tried using set smooth on the model but, set smooth made it look worse so I set it back to set solid.

It took me 2 or 3 hours to get the front finished but, I had a lot of fun. I just hope that the next car model I make looks better.

Today I worked on a 3d car model

Today I worked on a 3d car model. I have wanted to make a 3d car model for a while but every time I have seen a car modeling tutorial I think some day I want to try that tutorial but, I need more experience using blender. But recently I saw a car modeling tutorial at CGTutorials and decided to do it.

So about a week ago I started modeling the car by making the hood then did not do the tutorial again until today. Today I worked on the font of the car which took me a while and was very frustrating. But the time went by fast. I think when my model is finished it will look like a wrecked car instead of a nice shiny new car.

Also today I decided to put up a website even thought I have no idea what I want to put on it. So today I stared learning xhtml again by reading the first lesson of about.com's xhtml class.

Today I tried to make a knot

Today I tried to make a knot. I got the knot tutorial from blender.org. I did not do a very good job modeling the Celtic knot as you can see from the picture. I moved all the circles into the right position but, when I had to start shaping the knot I made a horrible mess. Also I did not light the scene very well so it's hard to see the the knot.
