page 29, Buds Best Years

Bud was raring to go when that first day of second grade came around. He wore his favorite outfit. Overalls with red shoes and conductor cap. Yet he wore his train outfit. Harriet said to change into something else otherwise he would be ridiculed be the 7 year olds. Bud would not be dissuaded he wanted to wear what he wanted to wear and he would hear no different.

Harriet, Bud and Harriet 3 all hopped into the planet rocket for the short ride to school. Bud talked about how he hoped to improve his grades and Harriet 3 talked about how she was so excited to start kindergarten. The arrived at Buds elementary school and since Harriet had to take her daughter to kindergarten she could not stay to meet buds teacher Mrs. Brooks.

Cordelia Books always knew she wanted to be a teacher since her early years. So she worked hard in school. A computer city native she graduated college the same year Bud was born. That same year she divorced her high school sweetheart over her devotion to her job. She would spend all her time on her lesson plans leaving little time for anything else. She also volunteered to tutor any of her students who needed help with school work. And that took even more time away from her husband until one day after 6 months of marriage he could not take it anymore and asked for a divorce. She consented saying that if he could not accept her career and how much time she spent working to get a head she was better off alone.

Cordelia decided after she got the divorce to spend the rest of her life concentrated on her work and skip a romantic life since teaching is what she wanted to do most in the word. And being a great teacher was her goal. So she was lonely she could while away the evenings playing video games on the internet. It was not that bad really.

But walked right up to Cordelia and introduced himself as Bud LongInterger. She said "Its good to meet you Bud LongInterger where is your mother so I can meet her." "She had to take my sister to Kindergarten" Bud said. "Well you tell her I said hi" Cordelia said. "Now take your seat But, its almost time for roll call. As the other children came in Bud spotted Samantha Willis and waved and she waved back.

Bud had not seen Samantha since the end of the last school years since right after school ended her family went on vacation to Europe for the summer. He was glad to see her. Ok, class now quiet down" Cordelia said.
