Its difficult for me to figure out what I want to write for a review. I wish book reviews came easy to me. Unfortunately not. I had never heard of biodynamic beekeeping before reading about it in Wisdom of bees.

I had two favorite chapters from the book. Hives and hive management and Artificial breeding. In the hives and their management chapter I liked the discussion about wax foundations, queen excluder boards and smokers. I never thought that you might be able to spray water on honey bees or drum the hive instead of using a smoker. I thought that was interesting. In that same chapter I also liked learning about the top bar and warre hives. I am not sure I have heard about the warre beehive before. As for the artificial breeding chapter its always interesting to read about queen bee breeding.

Some of the things in this book did not make sense to me. One would be the influence of the planets on bee hives. I don't know if I have got that right.

So there was some interesting information in Wisdom of the bees and some of the information did not make sense to me.

And the Appendix hive design principles made me wonder if I can design a bee hive. I had never thought of designing a beehive before.

I don't think I have anything more to say about wisdom of the bees. It was worth the time it took me to read it.

Its always exciting to read about bees. I have so much to learn. I like the books small size. My favorite thing about Field guide to common bees of California is the illustrations of the bees. The bees look so great. So adorable I hope I get to see a lot of the different different types of bees in the wild.

I also reading the first part of the book called an introduction to bees. I only wish I could remember all the information I read. I try my best. I think it was wroth the time it took me to read it.

I was excited to read real estate investing 101. Real estate is one of m interests. I suppose that is obvious otherwise I would have never read the book.

I liked that it was not over loaded with technical language so it was not hard to read. I thought it was informative.

Even thought I watched some flipping shows on television. I don't think I ever want to flip houses. I do like the idea of fixing up a house that is in disrepair and selling it for a person to live in.

I have read some other real estate books. And if I remember right they focused on buying foreclosures, buying rental properties. You know buying physical property. So I was unaware that there were such tings as real estate investment trusts or index funds, or mutual funds that invested in real estate.

My favorite chapter was the one about investing in foreign real estate. I don't remember any of the other real estate books I have read talking about investing in foreign real estate. So I like that real estate 101 talked about that.

I think this book was well worth the time it took me to read it. I only wish I could remember all the information in the book. I enjoyed it.

This book got me excited about growing Russian Comfrey and phacelia. I can picture all the bees at those plants. There is nothing more fun than to see lots of bees on a plant. Its so calming. I thought this book was OK. I thought her writing about bees was interesting. This book made me want to know more about birds. I don't know much about birds. I know a few birds maybe. That is all. I wish I could tell what type of bird I am hearing by its calls. So much to learn about birds.
I thought this book was worth the time it took me to read it. And I think I learned a few things by reading it. If you enjoy reading about bees I think you will enjoy reading a good portion of this book. Bees are amazing insects.

I never thought that anyone would have studied honey bee swarms. Before reading honeybee democracy I thought bees swarm and that is that. I never considered how they decided on a new home, Is the decision unanimous?, how does the swarm find its new home. I did know about scout bees. I am glad that there are people that were curious enough about honey bee swarms to study them.
Honeybee democracy was well wroth the time it took to read. I only wish I could remember every word of the book. If you like honeybees and you want to know more about honeybee swarms I think you will enjoy reading this book.

If you like books with not much text to read this is the book for you. I liked that there was not much text to read and that there were over 200 line drawings to draw. I like growing plants and I like drawing plants. And if I draw plants there are plenty of subjects to draw. What are there over 200,000 species of plants. The exercises in the book were fun to draw. I only wish I knew what the names of the plants i drew.
I wanted to learn how to draw so I could paint. I don't want to paint anymore. I like that with drawing all I need is a piece of paper and a pencil. I don't need all the paints, and paint brushes, and canvases.
I think reading this book was a good use of my time. I enjoyed it.

I can't wait to diagnose and fix electronics. My favorite chapter was chapter 2: setting up shop. It talked about all the tools I need to fix electronics and how to use them. DMMs, and oscilloscopes how cool are they.
This book is packed with information. I wish I could have understood it all. I don't understand how anyone understands any of it. Wow.
I don't know if I will ever be able to fix electronics. Its exciting to think that I could fix electronics though. I could be a hero to the person with a broken laptop. I could fix up electrons that I got cheap. When I started the book I thought this is so exciting I am going to learn how to fix electronics. As I got towards the end i thought I don't know how I am going to learn to fix electronics. This might be to complicated.
I am glad I read the book. Now I need to put in a lot of work so I can fix electronics. I hope I can do it.

This book is a fun read. I enjoyed reading the profiles of the bees and plants. So many cool plants and bees. I wish I could remember all the names. I still have a lot of trouble with the binomial naming system.
My favorite tips were to use binoculars if you want to observe bees for a distance. And I also liked the tips on photographing bees. I had thought that I could use a magnifying glass for observing bees. I had not thought of using binoculars. I can't wait to get a pair of binoculars so I can observe bees. I had never thought of taking pictures of bees. It never occurred to me that I could take a picture of a bee. I can't wait to take pictures of bees. I also liked the glossaries of bee & plant terms.
I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I only wish I remembered the bee and plant names better. I need to become a memory champion.

I enjoyed reading mastering standup. My favorite part of the book was the part about forms of stand up comedy. I had never thought about the different forms of standup comedy before.
Its so exciting to think that I might be able to write jokes that are funny and the express my point of view of the world. Instead of repeating other peoples jokes I could be repeating jokes that I came up with. I had never thought that I could do that before reading the book. Writing my own original stand up comedy is what I want to do.
I also liked part 3 of the book where the author tells how to write a first draft of material, writing setups and punchlines, and other things relating to writing comedy down.
Before I read mastering stand I would watch a stand up comedy and think how could they come up with those jokes. The comedians must need only a few minutes to write down a joke that will get huge laughs. I could never do that. By reading the book I learned that it can take a lot of work to write a joke that will get huge laughs. The book gave me confidence to try and write my own standup comedy. If I do the work maybe one day I can write funny jokes also.
I thought the book was very thorough. And its not that long so it was a quick read even for me. I am glad I read it. Now I need to get started writing jokes.

Review: Becoming a Hairstylist

This book exceeded my expectations. And it was a quick read to boot. i interviews were fun to read. I had no idea that hairstylists had to be licensed. And it seems to take a long time to get an appointment for the written licensing test. And it also surprised me that cosmetology school was so technical. You need to learn more than only cutting hair. I thought it would be easy to get into and easy to breeze through. That is not the case.
I have never thought I could cut hair as a profession. I am not sure I would be able to cut hair very well. Though I can see why people want to be hairstylists. You get to be around people, talk, and make peoples look the best it can.
I am so glad I read this book. I don't know that I will ever be a hairstylist but, at least now I have an idea of how to become one.

Eating bugs is a subjects I have been dying to read about. I have never knowingly eaten a bug. Except that as she says in the book that that we have all eating bugs unknowingly. The author says something
like that. I can't remember the exact words. For the book I learned that the term for eating bugs is entomorphagy.
My favorite parts of the book are raising bugs at home where she gives instructions on how to raise mealworms, crickets and wax moths at home. And I also enjoyed reading the essential list of edible insects. I was surprised to learn that cockroaches are edible.
Reading this book makes me want to go out and stat and insect farm and make some recipes with insects in them. I was also surprised the scorpions are edible. Wow.
That reminds me also also enjoyed reading the recipes in the back of the book. I did not make any of them. I wish I could make them though. The brownies sound tasty.
So I thought this was an exciting book to read. I knew that people in other parts of the world at insects. In the books I read about bees and honey bees I read about people eating the bee larva. I never knew that there was anyone in the United states who ate insects.
I can't wait to grow mealworms, crickets and wax moths. I don't know if I would be able to eat them though. I enjoyed this book.

I like this book because its a quick read. One thing I learned from the book is that honey bees need it to be over 55 degrees Fahrenheit and winds to be under 15 miles an hour to be able to fly. What else can I say about it. I liked the color pictures on the back cover. I think it touches on the important topics in beekeeping like the hive, bee diseases. I also liked that it was published 31 years ago so I learned a little about beekeeping 31 years ago. Its not the most in dept beekeeping book I have ever read. I think its a good over view of beekeeping. I am glad I read it.

I liked that this book was a quick read I could make my way though it fast so I can get up and playing chess. I liked the pages about the chess pieces. Now I know there are Rooks, Knights, Bishops, King,
Queen, and pawns. I also liked the discussion of opening moves and I also liked the pages about wold chess champions. i knew the name Bobby Fischer, And Gary kaspurov that's all the chess names I know. I wonder what it would be like to be a chess champion.
While reading the book I wondered whether I would want to put in the time to become a chess champion. I don't think so. I do want to play chess. I don't care if I am great at playing chess. I have not played chess much. So I could change my mind after playing chess a little. Time will tell. Now its time to play chess.

I thought this book was OK. I liked that it was a quick read. Even for me. i liked the appendix with book recommendations and even a Youtube show.
Reading this book made me that about whether I want to own and run a restaurant. I have not been a restaurant for years. I like the idea of making food and serving it to people. I think I would rather own a food cart that would sell only a few items.
I recently saw on TV news show a story about a 93 year old man who got tired of being retired so he started a show that sells cupcakes. And now he wants to star an ice cream shop. I think something like that is what I would rather do than run a restaurant.
Maybe I could own a doughnut shop or a coffee cart or a pizza by the slice cart. That sounds more interesting to me than owing a restaurant.

I have dreamed of this day for years. That is a bit of an exaggerator. Ah, its an outright lie. I have never dreamed of solving a Sudoku. Maybe I have dreading of solving a Jigsaw puzzle but, not a Sudoku puzzle. Spoiler alert. If you want to see if I solved the puzzle watch the video before you read the next sentence. I solved the Sudoku puzzle, the game said I solved it in 4 minutes 4 seconds. Did you watch the video. Were you as bored watching the video as I was? I hope not. Before I read this book I had the idea that all the wild honey bees in the united States hand been killed by varroa destructor. I could not have been more wrong. I see honey bees on flowers all the time. I wish I knew if they were wild honey bees. I doubt they are. I am glad that there are still wild honey bees in the wild in the united states. It gives me how that honey bees will survive despite the fact of varroa destructor, chalk brood, small hive beetle, deformed wing virus, and all the other pests and
diseases of honeybees. Because I worry that one day there will be no more honey bees. And that would be a shame.
This book talked about everything I ever wanted to know about how wild honey bees live. I was surprised that there are people out there who study wild honey bees. I am glad there are. This book is a weighty book literally. I think my arms got stronger by holding the book in my hands while reading it. Strong mind, strong body.
My favorite chapter was Darwinian beekeeping because it give suggestions on how I could apply what I read about how honey bees live in the wild to my honey bee hives. Thought I don't yet raise honey bees. I hope to raise honey bees someday.

Here is the latest song from OatmealBreakfast. I don't have a particular reason for choosing kitchen cupboards as the subject of the song. I thought I need a subject for a song and kitchen cupboards is what I came up with. I have been making songs for over 3 years now. Hooray for me. I wish I were a big music star. I had my own tour bus, owned a city, had lots of fans. that is not what happened. I wish it were but, its not. I am happy that I have made at least 40 or 50 songs for the last 3 years. That is an accomplishment I am proud of. The results might not be great. But, I am making music. So fun. Here is to another 3 years or 30 years of making music. Computer security is on subject I want to know a lot more about so its why I got this book. It shocked me to read that people get fake degrees. Somehow I never thought that people would want to get fake degrees. Why would anyone want to get a fake medical degree? It does not make sense to me. If they don't know what they are doing people can get hurt of die.
Its depressing to me to read about trolling. Why would anyone want to make people miserable or feel bad? People getting harassed online makes me want to quit the internet for good. It makes me want to move to the woods and spend my days in the wilderness with nature. It makes me want to do something better with my life than use a computer. At least not everyone on the internet is mean. I am glad for that.
I think this book was well worth the time it took me to read. I can't think of anything else to write in this review so I will stop writing.

When I looked at a plant before I read this book I did not think much about what processes were going on in the plant even thought i had read botany for dummies and should have known better. This book heavy physically and its heavy with what it has in its pages. Its packed with interesting information. I can't say I had a favorite chapter because they were all my favorite chapters.
If you want to know more about the inner workings of plants read this book. I am glad I did. The only problem is that I can't remember ever single word that is in the book. I wish books could be downloaded into my brain. The nature of plants was a fascinating read.

Review: The Bee Book

This is another fun book to read about bees. My favorite chapter was the chapter about attracting bees. I have to build a bamboo bee house, the clay bee house, the wood block house, and the pallet hotel. And I wish I could plant every one of the plants. Bring on the bees.
I also liked the two pages about changing comb. In other books I read that its good to change brood comb ever 2 years or so but, I don't recall those other books saying how to change the comb. So it was interesting to read about the Bailey and shook swarm method. I learn something never every time I read another book about bees. Bees are awesome.
I have not kept bees in a beehive so I don't know if I would like it or be any good at it. I do want to try keeping bees. It sounds so interesting. I do know one thing. I like growing pants and I want to plant plants that will attract bees. This was defiantly worth the read. The pictures were nice to look at also.

I wish I knew it all. I am glad I don't know it all. Because if I now it all there would be a lot in world that no one would know anything about. Before reading this book I had never heard the word sawfly and had no idea what they were. Insects are amazing that's all I can say.
My favorite chapter about the book was the one about planting a garden for Hymenoptera. That's not the exact name of the chapter but, its what the chapter is about.
I wonder how much information entomologists memorize. And how much information that have to look up in a book or on the internet.
Reading articles saying that insects were declining made me want to know more about insects. And I am glad I have read books about insects. Now all I need to do is plant a garden to attract hymenoptera so I can see them up close. I defiantly will need a field guide to identify them.
This was a fun book to read.

I have also read the 4th edition of the backyard beekeeper. So I thought why not read the 3rd edition.
Bees are one of my favorite subjects to read about. I was thinking about when I grew sunflowers years ago I remember seeing bees on the sunflowers but, I had no interest in how the bees lived, what they ate, how long they lived, how many bees were in a hive. Back then I had no idea bout bees. And if I thought about bees I assumed that there were only honey bees or bumble bees.
I am glad I got interested in bees. They are fascinating insects that are so interesting. My world is so much better know that I know a little bit about bees. One day I hope to become a beekeeper. I can't wait to see if I like beekeeping and if I am good at beekeeping.

I had heard about colony collapse disorder before reading this book. I knew that the bees would disappear from the hive with no trace. That is about all I knew. Its was so interesting to read about the investigation into colony collapse disorder. I thought that there would be an identified cause. Maybe there is now but, not when this book was written. If I were a beekeeper and my bees disappeared without a trace that would scare me.
For me this book was a page turner. I liked reading about Kirk Webster and how he went from using chemicals to breeding Russian honey bees. I also enjoyed the appendix about some beekeepers using 4.9 millimeter cells instead of 5.4 millimeter cells. In that same appendix the author wrote about Dennis Murrell and how he used top bar hives and had less Verroa mites and diseases such as chalkbrood or was it Nosema or was it diseases. The discussion about California almond orchards was also interesting.
I was not sure that this book would be that interesting to read when I got it to read. After reading Fruitless fall I can say for certain that I am glad I read it. Bees are amazing.

I always enjoy reading about honey bees. I liked that this book was a fast read. For most of the book there is a question and then the answer. And on the page opposite it there is a picture with a small amount of text.
I hope I know more about answers to honey bee problems after reading this book. I wish my brain were like a photocopier and could remember everything I read. Its not. I wish books could be downloaded to my brain like software for a computer. It can't. Maybe in the future.
Two answers stood out to me. One was about problems with aunts. In another book I read about putting the legs of the hive stand in cans and filling those cans with motor oil. This book says that the aunts can get past that so that solution does not work all the time. And the other answer was about laying workers. Another book I read said to shake the the workers off the frames away from the hive and the laying workers will not be able to make it back to the hive. This book says that the laying workers will be able to make it to the hive. So shaking the workers off the frames away from the hive does not work. At least I have remembered some of what I have read in other bee keeping books.
I enjoy reading about bees so I enjoyed reading this book. Now all I need to do is remember what I read so that I will have the information when I need it.

I had read an article about Trauma cleaning in a magazine years ago. That is why I wanted to read this book. Reading about all the challenges that Sandra Pankhurst has had lot happen in her life and that she has made it through those challenges is inspiring to me. Its amazing that with all her heath problems she is able to work.
When faced with a problem I want to give up. I tell myself that I will never get through any problem I face because I don't have an education, Or I tell myself I am not a hard working, Or I tell myself I never finish anything I start. But, when faced with a problem Sandra keeps on going.
I was surprised to learn that the hormones that Sandra takes will shorten her life. If I read the part of the book right. I am sure I did.
It was also interesting to read about Sandra's clients. I don't know how anyone can live in that type of filth. I know I think that I need to keep things because one day I might sell them for a lot of money. But, I could not stand to live in a big mess. At least I hope I never would be able to. But, if there was some bad event in my life who knows I might become a hoarder too.
I think Sandra has lived an amazing life. I have often wondered if I could work as a Trauma cleaner. I am not sure. I might not be able to take the bad smells or see blood. or cleaning up the scene of a murder. But, I would like helping people in their hour of need. Making their lives a little cleaner.

I thought writing a song about vacuuming was something I wanted. So I wrote a song about vacuuming. To many of you out there vacuuming may not be a chore you want to do. I on the other hand enjoy vacuuming. Its relaxing, calming, puts me in a better mood. And I am cleaning a rug. What is better than that. Review: Beekeeping for Dummies

Beekeeping for Dummies by Howland Blackiston

I enjoyed reading every chapter of the book. It was a fun read. I never know what to write in a review. What did I think about the book? I liked the glossary at the end of the book. I also liked the resources section at the back of the book. I also liked the recipes for things to make with wax, and honey and propolis. I really liked the queen rearing chapter.
I try to read all the books about bee keeping I can so that the information will slowly make its way into my brain.
After reading this book I though I could start bee keeping today and do OK at it. While reading the book I though wait a minute the book did not talk about keeping records of your hive inspections. Then at the end of the book there was a list of things to check during hive inspections.
Beekeeping for dummies makes me want to start beekeeping now. To bad its august and to late to start. I will have a goal to start bee keeping next year. Its my new years resolution in august.
I think this book has the information you need to start as a bee keeper. Its a quick read. Its fun to read.
I think it would be fun to have a Langstroth hive and a top bar hive. There is so much to learn about bee keeping and so many things I can do. I can raise queens. I can harvest pollen, propolis, honey. I want to try everything.
What else can I say except that this book was not a waste of my time to read. It was worth the read.

I was excited to read this book. And it did not disappoint. My favorite chapters were the ones that talked about the history of NYC garbage collection. I was surprised to learn that NYC used to throw its garbage in the ocean. And empty its chamber pots in rivers. I makes me glad to live at this time.
I was also surprised to learn that some NYC garbage were ashamed to be garbage men. One man has not told his neighbors what he does for a living. Me personally I think being a garbage man is a honorable profession. It keeps the streets free of garbage.
This book was a page turner. I wish I could read faster. It was so good. I thought reading this book was worth my time spent reading it. There were so many great stories.
I also learn that street sweepers are also called mechanical brooms. It was fun to read about mechanical brooms also. I enjoyed it.

In my reviews I am always worried that people will read my review and think did he read the same book as I did. I am worried that I will not remember the book correctly.
I thought this book was Ok. I liked the glossary and resources sections at the end of the book. By reading this book I learned a lot more about cyptocurrency than I knew before I read this book. I thought cryptocurrency began and ended with bitcoin. That is sure not true. The reason I got the book to read was because I read a headline from a news article that said something like Bitcoin takes a lot of energy to mine. I don't think I will be mining bitcoin anytime soon or ever.
It thought this book was worth the read. What else do I want to say about the book? Nothing.

My favorite chapters of the book was the one on sleep. Which mentioned lucid dreaming. I am going to fly tonight. I think it would be fun to have a lucid dream. I also liked the chapter on creativity. Who doesn't want to be more creative. I liked the authors tips on how to be more creative.
The stores of his patients in the chapters were interesting. Fascinating. The former TV producer who was homeless who had a brain tumor. At least that is what I think it was. The girl who had to have half her brain removed.
Its amazing to me that people can go to school long enough to become doctors. Its a good thing. I would not want a world without doctors.
This book was a quick and fascinating read. I think I learned something by reading the book.

Review: The Beekeeper's Handbook

I read the 3rd edition of the book. It seems like it took me forever to read. I made it through. There is so much about honey bees that i need to learn. And I think this book had a lot of great information about honey bees. If only I could spend the rest of my life studying it then I could become a honey bee expert.
My two favorite things in the book were a recipe for bee brood and and the page on how to raise wax moths for fishing bait and food for people. It says wax moths cane be fried. When fried they pop like popcorn, and when salt is added they taste like potato chip or corn puffs. I have to eat insects. Most of the world eats insects so I should also.
The beekeepers handbook has everything you would expect from a book about beekeeping. Personally I never to memorize bee anatomy. Learning about beekeeping is so much fun. I am sure actually beekeeping would be more fun. I can't want to keep bees for real. I hope I become a beekeeper some day.
Thinking about sitting around a beehive and watching the bees fly around seems fun. I am sure the sound of the bees would be relaxing.
Reading this book was not a wast of my time.

This book was easy and quick to read. I liked reading about the different things that each of the people in this book did. Sig had a company that infected computers with ransomware. Victor hacked cars,
chou stole company's data. Rene was not good at using computers but, she could talk so she worked customer service at sig's company.
What most of the people did for a living in this book was not nice or anything I would do. I think the book makes Kate Fazzini's point that hackers are like everyone else.
The person next door. They are not some anti social teenager in their basement writing viruses. At least not all of them.
I did not waste my time reading this book that is for sure. I can't think of anything else to write in this review.

Doesn't everyone find brushing your teeth so exciting. I know I do. Or do I? I have to brush my teeth to keep them looking great. I have not flossed in years. So perhaps I need to floss. For me its always enjoyable to read about bees. It seems to me that every book about bees I read I learn something new. Or at least the facts about bees are further cemented in my mind. There is so much to know about bees. Its hard for me to remember all that I want to remember. At least now I know that there are more types of bees than honey bees, and bumble bees.
This is book is a quick read. It talks about hive site selection, hive types, how often to check bees, how to check bees, the pest an diseases of bees, honey, Propolis, pollen. It talks about how to harvest the honey. So its a solid book.
My favorite part when the hive section. I had never heard of a few of the types of hives. I enjoyed reading this book. As I wrote its always fun to read about bees. I feel I did not waste my time by reading this book.

I had read becoming an ethical hacker so I wanted to read more about security. So I got this book. I had never hear about Kevin Mitnick before reading this book. The book did not disappoint.
There was so much interesting information in the book. It was interesting to read about what companies can collect about you while using their services. I had never thought about if the web mail provider I have could read my email. Or what a social network could do with tie information I put on the site. I would need to read the book a few more times to be able to remember all the information I want to.
The book was full of interesting stories. I don't know what else to write. All I can say is that I did not waste my time reading the art of invisibility. I learned so much. And I hope I will be more security conscious now that I have read it.

bats OatmealBreakfasts newest song

If I saw a bat in the wild I will cover my head and run, run, run. bats scare me. No bat has ever done anything to me. I don't recall ever seeing a bat in the wild so I don't know why I am scared of bats. I am not a fan of horror movies. So I don't know how I got to be so afraid of bats. I recently I read a book about bats. And then I decided to write a song. And here is the song. I hope someone I hope that my songs are getting better. I had not given bats much thought before I read this book. I assumed there had to be one species of bat that lived who knows where. I was wrong. There are over 1,300 species of bats. A few of the species are even colorful.
I enjoyed looking at the pictures in this book. It was fun to read the description of each species. I only wish I had a better memory so I could remember everything I read.
Even after reading this book if I ever say a bat I would cover my head and run. I skittish around flying things. Birds also scare me. No bat or bird has ever harmed me. So I am not sure how I got to be scared of them.
I would be like john Candy and Dan Aykroyd in the movie The great outdoors. There was a scene where the two actors have to get a bat out of there cabin. They put on a lot of improvised protective gear. That would be me if I had to get a bat out of a rented cabin. But, I bet the bat would be more scared of me than I was of it.
Its amazing to me that anything is know about bats considering that they are active mostly at night. I think some bats are active in the daytime. I am probably wrong about that.
Even if you don't want to read the text I think that this book is worth looking though for the wonderful color pictures of bats.
I like batman so why am I scared of bats. Go figure. Batman protects. He does not injure.
I was surprised to learn that different species of bats eat different things. Some bats eat insects, other eat nectar, others invertebrates, others eat fruit. I was already aware that bats pollinated plants.
This book makes me want to get a bat detector and night vision goggles and head out into the night so I can see some bats. Maybe I would find a new species and have it named after me.

Review: The Hive: The Story of the Honeybee and Us

This book was wroth the read. One thing I learned what that honey bees don't die all the time when they stings. Its only when they sting mammals with elastic skin like humans. i think I got that right. Before I read this book I was under the impression that whenever a bee stung anything it died because its stinger got stuck in whatever it stung.
And another thing that surprised me what the honey is not recommend for infants because they can get a type of botulism.
Another thing I never thought of was honey ice cream. I have to try honey ice cream. It sounds delicious.
There was so much in this book that I liked. It talked about Brother Adam. I had just read about him in sweetness & light. The bee keeping showman Thomas Wildman. Were two of my favorite people to read about in the book.
I enjoyed the discussion of why the popularity declined. It surprised me that German still eats as much honey now as in I think it was medieval times.
Why was I not interested in bees when I was younger. They are fascinating to read about. I am sure I don't know much about bees since I have only read about half a dozen books about bees but, I know more about bees than I used to.
Reading about Honey bees makes me wish I had a honey bee hive right now that I could go outside and sit by all day. I would never feel alone sitting by a honey be hive. I hope I would not get stung.
I could go on and on about the interesting things I learned in this book. I have written enough. Or maybe I will write more about it later.
