Buds Best years, Page 37

Welding was a hobby that Bud recently developed an interest in. When he first tried welding he was scared because he thought it was to dangerous and as he tried it more and more he developed a adoration for welding.

He decided to take art welding in the 9th grade so he could make sculptures and signs.

He practiced and practiced and finally he was able to make good welds. He enjoyed everything about welding. The metal, the helmets, the welders. His favorite type of welding was arc welding.

He spent a lot of time designing sculptures and signs that he wanted to make in his high school welding class.

Sid bought bud a welder and had a shop built at Sids new mansion. One for the first things bud build in his welding shop was a batting cage. Bud had no interest in playing baseball he just wanted to swing for the fences in his batting cage. He thought that would be a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Bud liked to watch basketball on television. His favorite college team was the computer city university Monitors. The team has a long and undistinguished history. They were no better when Bud was in high school. There best player in those years was a man named Tom Johnson a 6'10" power forward with a deadly 3 point jump show with no inside game. He shot 3 pointers like a sharp shooter. When his back was to the basket he was more likely to fumble the ball out of bound than find the basket with the ball so he mostly shot from outside the free throw line. He could put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop but was reluctant to since he shot so good from the outside. He was a great defender but, since the rest of the team could not play defense it was tough to be the only exceptional defender. But, he trued his best.

Every Saturday, Monday, and Friday Bud sat down in front of the family's television popcorn and soda pop in hand ready to cheer on the Monitors. Who were off to a 0-10 start which was no surprise to anyone who followed the team regularly. Bud yelled with pleasure for every Monitor 2 or 3 point basket and screamed defence, defense, defense every time and scream in displeasure when any opponent scored a point. He did not care if the team did well he just enjoyed the fun of watching a basketball game and making a lot of noise even thought it looked like he cared if the monitors had a good season.

He did not waste much time on sports other than watching his favorite college teams and pro-teams. He was not the type of person who worried about who his favorite teams drafted or who his team traded for or about contract disputes. He enjoyed the games and that was it.

Bud was having the time of his life in high school.
